Yantian Port impose COVID restrictions

Restrictions at Yantian port have been announced, following a coronavirus outbreak in the port area last week, with areas suspended from operation, while they undergo intensive cleaning and disinfection.

We have been informed by our colleagues in China today, that Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) has confirmed that the storage yard in the port area has a very high storage density, which is seriously diminishing the efficiency of terminal operations and causing traffic congestion around the port area.

In order to improve the above problems, YICT has decided to:

1. During the period from 22:00 on 25th May to 23:59 on 27th May, export FCL containers will not be accepted; however, during this period, import FCL containers and empty containers will be subject to normal handling.

2. From 00:00 on 28th May to 3rd June, the acceptance of FCL containers will resume, but only when the receiving vessel is ETA-4 (that is, within four days before the expected arrival date of the ship).

At present, serious congestion continues at the Yantian Wharf and vehicles entering the port to hand over loaded containers are queued, to enter the wharf.

The operation time of container return is severely delayed and vessel berthing, loading and unloading all affected to a certain extent.

We are monitoring the local situation closely, with our colleagues on the ground and will share any important developments.
